he played the quarterback from 1985 till 1986 under the head coach Terry Bowden. When his head coach left for the Samford University in the Birmingham, Alabama, Jimbo transferred along with him for playing the final season for Bulldogs. There, he was named as Division III National Player of the Year. He still holds the multiple school records at the Samford.
Jimbo also played a season in Arena Football League in the year 1988 for Chicago Bruisers. He then rejoined Terry Bowden at the Samford as graduate assistant coach by working with the quarterbacks from 1988 till 1990. Fisher was subsequently hired as full-time offensive coordinator as well as quarterbacks coach.
Two seasons later, he moved with Terry to Auburn University where he coached the quarterbacks along with Terry. There, he coached several of the successful quarterbacks which also include Patrick Nix, who later served as offensive coordinator at the Georgia Tech and Miami.
Fisher continued at the Auburn until Tommy Tuberville took over as the head coach following the 1998 mid-season resignation of Terry Bowden.
