Deborah Norville

Norville was born on 8th August 1958 in Dalton, Georgia. Norville won her town’s local Junior Miss contest, a beauty contest for high school senior girls. Norville went on to represent Georgia in the 1976 America’s Junior Miss pageant however she didn't win in that show.

She graduated summa cum laude within three years with a perfect 4.0-grade point average. She was also named a First Honor Graduate and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree. At the University of Georgia, she worked on the Main Court of the University’s Student Judiciary and was a member of Sorority.

She married Karl Wellner on 12th December 1987. Karl is a renowned Swedish businessman. The couple is blessed with three children together.

Norville initiated career - television career- when she was a college girl  She received an internship through Georgia Public Television and she contributed on The Lawmakers.

Then she was recognized by an executive of WAGA-TV in Atlanta .She was given a summer internship. As Norville said that "The third day was short on reporters, and they told her to cover a news story.”

In the year 1987, Norville entered in NBC News where she worked as an anchor of NBC News at Sunrise. At the time she was only solo female anchor of a network broadcast. After her arrival the program Ratings on Sunrise increased up to 40%. from before.

 Deborah appeared as a prime host, Bad Girls on violent teenaged girls in 1989. It was a documentary which was the events most watched show. 

In the year 1990, Norville became the co-host of Today Show. She also won Emmy awards for her role in NBC coverage of the Democratic uprising in Romania.

In May 1991, ABC Network announced Norville as a host for prime time program broadcast from her homes in New York and Long Island.
