Jane Hill : Personal Life
Jane Amanda Hill was born in Eastbourne, Sussex, England, United Kingdom in the 10th of June 1969 as the daughter of David and Margaret Hill.
She spent her childhood in London and attended Micklefield School of East Sussex followed by Queen Mary College, University of London. Hill graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in 1991.
Hill has openly announced that she is a lesbian and is involved in a relationship with Sara Shepherd, a camera operator. The couple resides in London.
Hill is also a part of the British-American Project, an organization which exists to promote Anglo-American relations.
Jane Hill : Professional Life
Hill started out her career in journalism from a part-time job in a local BBC Radio for five years (1986 to 1991) as a junior music correspondent. During this time, she was also an assistant and researcher to Senate Democrats, at the Democratic National Headquarters in Washington. After 1991, Hill decided to work a full time job on BBC.
She went to BBC Radio 5 Live and worked as the producer for one and a half year. Then she was hired by BBC Radio Berkshire and South Today as the show’s presenter after which she moved to national news.
Hill joined BBC News’ newly opened 24-hour channel in the November of 1997 and started working as an overnight presenter, making appearances on shows including BBC World News.
She has managed to cover major stories over the years during her time at BBC, which includes a week of special programs from Washington DC in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of the September 11. She has also covered the first anniversary commemorations at Ground Zero in New York City on behalf of BBC News and BBC World News.
She established herself as a truly dedicated journalist the day Saddam Hussein was captured and she had to handle eight hours of continuous broadcast on BBC News and BBC World News. During the case of disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the reporting team to Portugal was lead by Hill in 2007.
She partnered with Matthew Amroliwala from April of 2006 to August 2014 on BBC. Hill has also presented news bulletins on BBC One and made appearances on BBC Breakfast. She also fills in the role of relief presenter for BBC Weekend News on BBC One.
Hill appeared in the popular science fiction movie Edge of Tomorrow in 2014 and on the episodes of No Such Thing as the News in 2016.
