Personal Life
Griffin celebrates her birthday on the 20th of April and was born in 1969 in the United States of America as the daughter of John W. Griffin and Carolyn J. Griffin. Her father was a partner in a Washington D.C. law firm and her mother worked as a producing director of Metrostage, a theatre in Alexandria, Virginia.
Recognizing Griffin’s potential, Harvard University offered her a place in their class and she graduated from Harvard in 1992 with a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative politics.
Griffin married NPR’s digital editor for international news, Greg Myre in the October of 1994. Myre has worked as a reporter for the Associated Press and The New York Times.
The couple has been blessed with three beautiful children. Sadly in 2009, Griffin was diagnosed with a triple-negative breast cancer and was compelled to leave the airwaves. Fortunately, she was successfully fully treated until 2010.
Professional Life
Griffin was hired by FOX News Channel in the July of 1997 in Moscow and was sent as the network’s Middle East correspondent to the Jerusalem bureau in October 1999.
She was present to report the 34 day war between Israel and Hazbollah in the summer of 2006 and also managed to cover the Palestinian intifada for 7 whole years from Jerusalem. Similarly, Griffin has covered many historical events including the funeral of Yasser Arafat from Arafat and the evacuation of Jewish settlements from the Gaza Strip in the summer of 2005. She had the opportunity to interview the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
Griffin has also served from Cyprus from 1995-1996 and from Russia from 1996-1999 when she was able to cover the ongoing crisis on the Mid Space Station and the economic collapse in Russia.
Before working at Fox News Channel, Griffin had worked for numerous other media organizations including National Public Radio, the Voice of America and U.S. News and World Report.
After returning from her heroic recovery from cancer, she interview General David Petraeus in Afghanistan. Griffin, joining with her husband, has also written a book, “This Burning Land Lessons from the Front lines of the Transformed Israeli-Palestinian Conflict” which is about their time in the Middle East.
