Kaity Tong

Kaity Tong, 70, was born on 23rd July 1947 I Qingdao, China and she got migrated to the United States at the age of four. She was born to father, George Tong, and mother, Anita Tong. She holds an American nationality but her actual ethnicity isn’t known yet. Her uncle Hollington K. Tong, ambassador to the US from China as well as an acclaimed author, is the one who inspired Kaity to become a journalist.

 She got enrolled at  Bryn Mawr College as an undergraduate student. Here, she majored in English literature and she also earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from there. Later, she joined Stanford University after she got admitted in a doctoral program with a major in Chinese and Japanese literature.

Talking about her personal affairs, she is a married woman. From her first marriage, she is blessed with a son. However, her first marriage was unsuccessful and after some years of her divorce, she had married her lover with whom she is living happily till date.

Kaity initiated her career as a reporter for KPIX-TV in San Francisco from 1976 to 1979. Later on, she became the co-anchor of newscasts on KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California in December 1979. 

 In the year 1981, Kaity Tong moved to a New York stationed TV station called WABC-TV. She even co-hosted news with other big names in the industry such as Tom Snyder and Ernie Anastos.

She is also popular for being the newscaster of Wolf, Marci X, City Hall, Night Falls on Manhattan, Spider-Man many more.

 In 1992, she joined WPIX as the station’s lead female anchor. Currently, she is working at WPIX, which is a top news channel on the CW network.

She has been able to win many rewards and honors. She was the one to be honored by the Rotary International along with Paul Harris Fellowship.  Not only has this she also received a Champion on Excellence Award given from the Organization which was of Chinese Americans. Till date, the highest honor she has received is the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

 Katie is successful both in her personal and professional life. Being a prominent news anchor, she has earned both name and fame in the field of journalism.
