Kay Burley

Kay Burley was born in Wigan, Lancashire, England on 17th of December in 1960 and was raised as a Roman Catholic. She was really enthusiastic about journalism from an early age and already had started a reporting job at the age of 17 on the Wigan Evening Post and Chronicle.

Unfortunately information on her family or her education background hasn’t been disclosed to the media as Burley likes to keep her life really personal. But what we do know is that she has been divorced twice and has one child, a son, with Steve Kutner, with whom Burley was married for only a year.

Burley worked at BBC local radio and TV and later in 1985, she joined TV-am to work as a reporter and an occasional newsreader.

She was hired by Andrew Neil to join the Sky Television staff and together with him, she was able to launch her own documentary The Satellite Revolution on Sky One Entertainment Channel in the November of 1988. She led the Sky News coverage team during the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and subsequent tsunami disasters.

She was also present to cover both the General Election and the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005, becoming one of the prominent figures at Sky News.

Burley has also worked at Sunday Mirror as an occasional contributor and also made occasional appearances on news bulletins on Channel 5. In March 23, 2014, Burley joined LBC Radio with Stig Abell, The Sun’s Managing editor, to host a shot.

Burley published her first novel First Ladies on 12th May, 2011. In her book, she has depicted an erotic romance within the media industry, including television news. The book hugely disappointed readers as one of the reviews stated:  "Unfortunately, this book, with its dire comic timing, complete absence of irony, pointless digressions, dull plotting and complete lack of any engaging characters, is so mind-numblingly, fist-chewingly awful, that it’s just bad.”

Her second novel, Betrayal, was published in May 2012.
