Lauren Susan Green celebrates her birthday on the 30th of June and she was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States of America in 1958 as the daughter of Robert and Bessie Grissam Green.
She grew up with her four siblings, two sisters, Barbara and Lois and two brothers, Leslie and Kenneth. She has mentioned in an interview that the famous late musician Prince once had a crush in her back in the sixth grade. Later in 1992, she appeared on one of Prince’s songs My Name is Prince.
Green went all the way to win the Miss Minnesota pageant in 1984 and became the third runner-up in Miss America 1985 pageant.
For her education, Green attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. She went on to study at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. The 59-year-old practicing Christian is also a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Green tied the marital knot with Ted Nikolis.
Professional Life
Green started her career in journalism as the weekend news anchor and correspondent for a CBS affiliate in Chicago, WBBM-TB in 1988. She worked at the station for around 5 years and in 1993, she went on to KSTP-TV, and ABC affiliate in St. Paul, Minnesota, to work as a general assignment reporter.
Green, being a woman of multiple talents, has also been active in the musical field. She was able to release her album Classic Beauty in 2004, which consisted of classical piano music. She has also played keyboards on the Fox News Channel program Huckabee on Mike Huckabee’s band The Little Rockers.
Green was given the opportunity to perform on the 90th birthday of Georg Ratzinger in the January of 2014.
Back in 2013, Green created a huge controversy after her interview with Reza Aslan, an Iranian-American scholar. Her questions during the interview became subjected to lots of criticisms.
In one of her questions Green asked why a Muslim would writer about Jesus, saying, “You’re a Muslim, So why did you write a book about the founder of Christianity?” Critics wrote her questions to be simply “dumb, loaded, and prejudicial” and called out Fox News Channel to issue an apology to Aslam.
