Lisa Myers graduated from the University of Missouri's Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia, Missouri. She joined NBC in 1981.Prior to this (1979 -1981); Myers was White House correspondent for The Washington Star. From 1977 to 1979, she worked as a Washington correspondent for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Vanity Fair recognized Myers as one of the 200 Most Influential Women in America. She has also won Gracie, Clarion, Headliner, and Humanitas Awards.
In 1999, she received an Emmy nomination for a series of reports, disclosing that the brutal murder of an Army private at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, was an anti-gay hate crime and part of widespread harassment of gays in the military.
After serving for 33 years in NBC, she retired in 2014 with great honor and respect.
