Rita Cosby

Rita Cosby, who celebrates her birthday on the 18th of November, was born on 1964 in Brooklyn, New York, United States as the daughter of a Polish father Richard Cosby and a Danish Mother.

Her father had moved to the United States after the Second World War. Rita Cosby spent her childhood in Greenwich, Connecticut and went to the Greenwich High School. Later she attended the University of South Carolina and graduated by earning a Bachelor’s degree. 

Although Cosby was already freelancing for local newspapers while she was still going to school, her real journalism career began as she was working with WACH-TV, a FOX affiliate at New York, while she was going to college. She interned on CBS Evening News and was hired as an anchor at KERO-TV in Bakersfield, Carolina, and WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Cosby stayed with Fox News for 10 years (1995-2005) during which she hosted The Big Story Weekend Edition with Rita Cosby and Fox News Live with Rita Cosby and interviewed at least twenty world leaders. Her interviews also consisted of other great personalities including Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson and even a serial killer David Berkowitz. She led the reporting during the Presidential Campaigns of 1996 and 2000. She was also permitted to meet Pope John Paul II after receiving an exclusive letter from Tomothy McVeigh, who carried out the Oklahoma City bombings.

After a long prosperous career at Fox, Cosby moved on to MSNBC to anchor Rita Cosbya Live & Direct, a primetime weeknight show which went on to become the most highest rates who on the network that year. She also did extensive reports for NBC’s The Today Show. While at MSNBC, she got the rare opportunity of conducting interviews with Erik Menendez and Dr. Jack Kevorkian, who were both imprisoned. Cosby left the news station in 2007.

Cosby has co-hosted The National Memorial Day Parade simulcast, which broadcasts worldwide to US military installations all around the world since 2009. Also, co-chairing multinational events, Cosby was chosen as a “Fun and Fearless Female” by the Cosmopolitan Magazine. From time to time, she fills in for Nancy Grace on a HLN program and speaks out loud in her Radio program The Rita Cosby Show.

Cosby wrote and released her book Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death in the September of 2007. The book about Anna Nicole Smith was listed on the New York Times best seller. Unfortunately Cosby and her published were sued by the members surrounding Anna Nicole Smith’s estate. The case was voluntarily dismissed two years later.

Cosby went on to release another best seller memoir, Quiet Hero: Secrets From My Father’s Past, where she wrote about the untold story of heroism and courage of her father as a young Polish Resistance fighter who battled the Nazis during the Second World War. The book earned a lot of money which was utilized by the USO for the soul purpose of helping the wounded soldiers and their families.

The 53 year old has achieved quite amazing feats in her career and she still just keeps on going!
