Shawn Yancy: Personal Life
Shawn Yancy was born in Omaha, Nebraska in United States of America. Unfortunately, the precise details of her birth have not been revealed to any major publications yet. But according to her twitter profile, Yancy celebrates her birthday on the 13th of October. She spent her childhood growing up in Indianapolis, Indiana.
For her early education, Yancy was sent to the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. To pursue higher education, she attended Ball State University and went on to graduate from college by earning a Bachelor in Science Degree in Telecommunications. While she was in college, she has also joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
Yancy chose Marcus Wiseman as the man she wanted to spend her life with. Wiseman is a former football player from Ball State University. The couple has been blessed with three beautiful children, all sons, among which the eldest son, Anthony Young-Wiseman, is already renowned as a skilled player for Duke Football. The happy family currently live in Bethesda, Maryland.
Shawn Yancy: Professional Life
Shawn Yancy has worked with some of the biggest news stations in the world in her career. She was hired by Fox 5 News in the September of 2001 and coincidentally, right on the second day of her job at the station, she was assigned to be a part of coverage team during the September 11 terrorist attacks.
This could be counted as one of the highlights of her career. Because of her incredible skills in anchoring and reporting, she won the 2007 Regional Edward R. Murrow awards for an investigative series that Yancy had worked on – The Asbestos Problems inside the National Instutie of Health. In 2006, she was also honored with the prestigious Emmy Award for “Outstanding News Anchor” in Washington.
Yancy, in her career, has been awarded numerous other awards including multiple Associated Press and Golden Quill Awards for the perfection that she demonstrated while in-front of the camera. She has also worked for an ABC affiliate stationed at Pittsburgh, WTAE-TV as an anchor and reporter and was also a part of an NBC affiliate in Fort Wayne, Indiana, WKJG-TV’s team of anchors.
Yancy is currently working as a news anchor for Fox 5 news stationed at Washington, D.C. and is also responsible for co-anchoring the Fox News at 5om and 10pm. She is also a contributor to the Newsedge at 6 and 11pm.
Yancy appeared in a brief role in the character of a News Anchor in the 2006 movie The Sentinel.
