Derbyshire started her career in journalism at a local radio as a reporter but then had her big break when she moved on to join BBC Radio 5 Live in 1998 to work as a co-host of BBC’s breakfast show, which won the Gold Sony Awards in 1998 and 2002, with Julian Worricker. After Worricker’s leave from the show, Nicky Campbell became her partner.
